SignificantincreaseinoxidativestressbiomarkersassociatedwithsignificantdecreaseintheantioxidantenzymesactivityinAlintoxicatedraswasrevealed.SignificantdepletioninbrainATPaseenzymeactivitywhile,significantincreaseincaspase-3activitywasdetected.Moreover,significantelevationsinbrainacetylcholineesterase(ACHE)activityaccompaniedwithsignificantreductionindopamine(DA),noradrenaline(NA),adrenaline(A),serotonin(5-HT)levelswererecorded.MarkedameliorationwasdetectedinallinvestigatedneurologicalbiomarkersupontreatmentofADratswithD.salinaextractincomparisonwithDonepezilreferencedrug.Theseresultswereconfirmedbyhistologicalexaminationofbrainsections.Hence,thecurrentresultsclearlyindicatedneuromodulatingeffectofD.salinaagainstAlzheimer’sdisease.
