Pigments are considered one of the most important multi-functional materials and they can be applied in various applications. The role of modern chemical methods is to prepare new types of these pigments with high efficiency and cheap price instead of importing them. The core-shell technology is one of these new methods of preparation. The core-shell pigments are structured particles composed of shell (ZnoO.CoO) in both nano- and micron-sizes that compose only 10-20% of the new pigment on a surface of either kaolin (ore) or silica fume (industrial waste) that are found as 80-90% of the new core-shell pigment composition. These new pigments are of lower cost and can impart new and unique properties that were not found in the individual components and they can also overcome the deficiencies that were found in other traditional pigments. The variation in the shell particle sizes imparted different colors to the pigment and the new core-shell pigments revealed their high performance in different applications like anti-corrosive paints, rubber, plastics…etc.
